Meth lab found in Decatur home


Decatur – A meth bust lands a Decatur man behind bars.


On Monday after 4:00pm Decatur Police executed a search warrant for unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon on 35 year old Christopher Baker, in the 4 hundred block of South McClellan. During a search of the resident, detectives found three loaded firearms, and ammunition located in the basement. Police say that the barrel of one of the guns had been sawed off.


The detectives also found an active meth lab. The meth lab located in the basement was unsecured and accessible to two children living in the home. Detectives located 445 grams of meth in the basement, along with meth manufacturing materials.


Baker told police in an interview that he lives in the home with two children and his girlfriend. He also said the three firearms, ammunition, meth lab, and materials belonged to him. Baker faces charges of defacing ID marks on a firearm, possession of meth and meth making materials, child endangerment, along with other charges. He is currently being held in the Macon County Jail on a 150,000 dollars bond.
