Springfield – The Illinois house approved a series of measures
that would ban semi automatic assault weapons.
One of those amendments would make it a
felony for anyone to posses a military type assault weapon, or have large
capacity magazines. The debate became heated, with leaders from the north
praising the bill. Others like down state representative Brandon Phelps says
the bill will prohibit hunting in Illinois.
The amendments were approved with
democratic votes only. Republicans refused to cast votes.
