Walk/run to honor baby who lost battle with cancer

MT. PULASKI -- A local baby who lost her fight with cancer is capturing the hearts of thousands, nearly two months after her death.

Doctors discovered Annabelle Phillips had a brain tumor when she was five weeks old.  She had surgery but died just two weeks later.

The community is honoring her with a 5K run and walk this weekend.

Annabelle's dad, Darin Phillips, said the outpouring of support has been overwhelming.

"Her short time here had such an impact on our community and our friends," said Phillips. "It makes you realize that there actually is a lot of good that's out there."

To participate in the run and walk, it's not to late to register.

It starts Saturday at 10 a.m. in Mt. Pulaski's town square.  Donations will go towards Annabelle's medical expenses.
