Jail to add more space to house inmates

Decatur – The Macon County Jail is getting more space to house inmates.

The Macon County Jail is adding 92 bunk beds to the jail. During an inspection, the state found the jail had could use more beds. The jail currently has 292 bunks, and usually houses around three hundred people.

Macon County Sheriffs Department is hoping to move forward with the plan in the next couple of months.
