Fraud charges in connection with renovations at U of I


Champaign – The man in charge of renovations at the Lincoln Hall at the University of Illinois now has to pay 1.5 million dollars in restitution.


Thomas Williams pleaded guilty to fraud in connection with the project. Williams admitted his company falsely told the Illinois Capital Development Board a minority-owned subcontractor would work on the renovations.


The renovations were estimated around 64 million dollars.
