Decatur – Talk on whether or not to hike the price of water in Decatur will continue Monday.
The increase would take place over three years. They say the increase will not only help improve the water treatment plant, but help prevent water restrictions.
The bill would also change from quarterly to a monthly fee. Director of Water Management, Keith Alexander explains how the increase will work "Our average residential water customer pays approximately $26 per month for water service. After these increases the rates would be in the mid $50 range after the three year increase."
On Monday the council will also discuss what is expected to come out of the future of Decatur's budget.
