Request denied to sell water to coal mine

Homer – The Homer Village Board denies a request to sell water to a planned coal mine.

Sunrise coal requested up to 540 thousand gallons of non-potable water for the proposed mine, and the board voted unanimously to deny the request. The mine has drawn some local opposition.

The company Sunrise Coal wants to develop an underground coal mine, five miles from Homer.
