Mattoon – Police have arrested two people who allegedly withheld information in a murder and robbery investigation.
Police arrested Brooke Deadmond, 22, of Toledo and Andrew May, 21, of Mattoon. Both were arrested on obstruction of justice charges for withholding information in the investigation of the shooting death and robbery of Ben Newton, which occurred at Toasters Bar on March 18. Police say that May was also in possession of a stolen firearm.
Deadmond posted bond and is awaiting an appearance at the Coles County Court House. May was unable to post bond and is now in the custody of the Coles County Safety and Detention Center.
