Mount Pulaski students present check to courthouse foundation

Mount Pulaski – It was a proud morning at Mount Pulaski grade school.

The third grade class has been raising money to help maintain the town's historic courthouse. Today the students presented an $11,180.89 jumbo check to the courthouse foundation.

The crowd roared with excitement as the students marched to a drum roll and unveiled the large donation. Parents, teachers, representatives from the Illinois Historic Preservation, and Looking for Lincoln Coalition attended the assembly.

Teacher May Anne Raktke says they have even received more money today, and will continue accepting donations.
