Students get a chance to learn about modern agriculture
Decatur – The Macon County Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom Committee is hosting Agucation on Tuesday, April 23 though Thursday April, 25 at Richland Community College from 9:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. daily in the Shilling Center wing.
Agucation is an annual event created to give students in the area a more vivid perception of the power of modern agriculture. Around 900 Macon County 5th graders are signed up to attend this year's event, in which they will have the opportunity to be taken on two-hour tours. Six area presenters will open the eyes of the students showing them the importance and need for agriculture both here in Central Illinois and worldwide.
This year the event will feature speakers from the University of Illinois Extension, Farm Bureau, American Red Cross, Macon County Soil & Water Conservation District, as well as a showcase of both FFA farm animals and agricultural equipment.
