SPRINGFIELD - Sangamon County State's Attorney John Millhiser has announced no charges will be filed following a Springfield Police Department investigation into the release of District 186 student test score information.
The news comes several days after three Springfield School District employees were placed on administrative leave following the police investigation into the improper release of student test score data.
Release of the data to unauthorized parties without parental consent is in violation of the federal Family Educational Records Privacy Act and the Illinois School Student Records Act.
In question was the improper release of Illinois Standard Achievement Test scores of Capital College Preparatory Academy eighth-graders.
The names of some students reportedly had been disclosed improperly during a debate over the closure of the school.
The leaked report included reading and math scores for eighth-graders from exams.
The district is planning to meet with parents on how to prevent such situations from arising in the future.
