PANA, Illinois - WAND News has learned five people have been arrested in connection with a weekend stabbing in Pana.
Initial charges of mob action have been filed. Names of the suspects have not yet been released. The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be forthcoming, according to Christian County State's Attorney Michael Havera.
James A. "Adam" Bertin, 29, was brought to the Pana Hospital early Saturday morning. He was covered in blood - the victim of an apparent stabbing.
Bertin was pronounced dead at Pana Community Hospital at 4:11 AM.
Joe Shoraga, the victim's cousin, told WAND News he saw it happened.
"I'm, like, 'Adam, Adam' He wouldn't talk and he had blood coming out of his neck. They stabbed him in his neck," Shoraga said.
The investigation is ongoing with the cooperation of Pana Police Department, District 9 Illinois State Police Zone 4 Investigations, Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services and Christian County State's Attorney Mike Havera.
