DECATUR—DPS 61 Superintendent Gloria Davis has announced her retirement, effective 2014. She made the announcement at Tuesday night's board meeting.
In a press release, Davis says: "I desire and pray that the District and the entire community of Decatur will continue to take pride in itself and the accomplishments we have completed together. Our children are counting on us to do what is right for their future."
In the press release, Davis says, reflecting on her decision to retire: "I will end this chapter of my career the same way I began – It is and will always be, "All About The Children!"
Davis has been with the school district since 2006. She'll be stepping down as district leader on June 30th.
