Decatur police investigate shooting death

Decatur, Ill – An arrest has been made in connection with a shooting on West Harper Street, Sunday night.

 

Police arrested 22 year old, Cameron Slater for the shooting death of 35 year old, Toby Britton. Slater was arrested by U.S. Marshals at 7:15 a.m. today.

 

Police were called out to 728 West Harper at about 10 o'clock Sunday night after 911 calls indicated gunshots. Britton was found lying on the ground in the 700 block of West Harper Street, the victim of gunfire.

 

The man was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital.

 

Decatur police detectives searched the scene at 728 West Harper Street, and evidence was seized, according to a police news release.

 

The shooting is still under investigation.
