Decatur – The city council approves a new grocery store to begin work on Decatur's near northwest side.
Council voted 7-0 in favor of a 14 million dollar project to open a new County Market grocery store. Nieman Holdings LLC will construct a new 38,000 square foot store, bordering the areas of Illinois Route 48, Grand, Oakland and Leafland avenues.
Because of the location of the store, and concern with access the developer requested the City's assistance to prepare the site for the new store. Nieman plans to invest 14.8 million in the project.
