Firefighter laid to rest in Springfield


SPRINGFIELD - Chicago firefighter Sean Sloe has been laid to rest in his hometown of Springfield.

Sloe, 37, was a former Springfield resident who was killed in a motorcycle crash last week near I-55 at the Clearlake exit.

Sloe graduated from Sacred Heart Griffin in 1993. He was also a graduate of Lincoln Land Community College with an Associate's Degree; he held a degree in Fire Science. He was a Firefighter/Paramedic in the City of Chicago.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Lena Sloe, and Tim Bandy, his stepfather, of Sherman and one brother, Michael Sloe of Springfield; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The procession began this morning at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Springfield.
