Hundreds of homes vacant, city plans to step in.

Danville – Nearly two hundred homes in Danville are considered vacant, that's just a fraction of the nearly six hundred homes that are unoccupied.

The city plans to step in, and consider making strict rules for home owners. The owner of a home that is vacant must do one of three things, present a plan for demolition, plan to fix up the home, or they can provide a statement telling the city why it will continue to be vacant.

Under city rules to be considered vacant the home would be considered dangerous or break city code.
