Day 1: Saying Thank You during National EMS Week

At the start of National EMS week, WAND said thank you to paramedics on the run saving people's lives.

Brigette Burnett followed two Decatur paramedics as they made two of about ten calls a day.

They said it's more than a job. It is a calling.

Paramedics like Jamie England and Brian Evans race through Macon County streets, on a mission. Evans is on call 24 hours a day. They said, some calls are simple, while others are not.

Brian Evans said, "we have to react with integrity and passion and a level of emotional detachment, because if we allow ourselves to become so emotionally flooded, we can't help anyone."

Tuesday WAND's Brigette Burnett will ride along with Sullivan paramedics. She will see how a team of mostly volunteers compare to Decatur.
