National Weather Service confirms tornado touch down Friday

Decatur – The National Weather Service confirms a tornado did touch down Friday night on Decatur's northwest side.

 

 

 

Major damage from the storm took down trees, and knocked out power for thousands of people. Decatur business owner also estimated about 200 thousand dollars worth of damage to Plaza TV. Trees were also snapped in half in Graceland Cemetery.

 

 

 

The weather service says it was an EF1 tornado with winds up to 90 miles per hour.
