Counterfeit money makes its way through central Illinois

Champaign – Counterfeit bills continue to make their way around central Illinois.

The Champaign Police Department says they continue to see fake money. Police say people are making small purchases at local stores and fast food restaurants to get the change back.

Police have recovered bills ranging from a dollar to one hundred dollar bills. Police say marker pens you see at stores don't work. They suggest cashiers look for a bills watermark instead.
