Springfield - The area has definitely seen its fair share of severe weather the last few weeks, and a big part of the recovery has been volunteers from the American Red Cross, and now they say the need for more volunteers is bigger than ever.
From the devastating tornado in Oklahoma to the powerful winds that damaged the Lincoln Place mobile home park in Springfield, the American Red Cross was there to help people in their times of need.
Now the Red Cross is looking for more volunteers with more severe weather expected locally, and nationally this summer.
"The Red Cross' mission is we can't help or eleviate suffering without our volunteers or the generosity of our donors, so volunteers are just super important to our organization," said preparedness coordinator Trevor Sikes.
If you're interested in becoming a volunteer for the American Red Cross, they'll have an informational meeting next Thursday between 5:30pm and 6:30pm at the capitol office in Springfield.
