Some answers to the current gas price spike

Joliet – Exxon Mobile released some answers about the recent gas price hike.

A refinery of Exxon Mobile has been shut down because of maintenance since April 14th. That refinery normally puts out more than 230-thousand barrels of oil per day.

Oil market analysts say that is what is pushing the gas spike and the maintenance problems at the refinery could continue through late June.

Here in central Illinois gas prices have topped the 4 dollar mark in a few places. Decatur's average is $4.08, Champaign at $4.14, and Springfield at $3.86. Those prices are all below the state average which is at $4.25 a gallon. Illinois average is 60-cents a gallon above the national average.
