Police arrest suspects connected to Mimosa Street Shooting

Champaign – Police have arrested two in connection with the shooting that occurred in the 1100 block of Mimosa last Friday.

The US Marshals located Qwantrell Ayres and Kevin Akins at a hotel in Indianapolis, Indiana. Both have been arrested for aggravated discharge of a firearm in connection with the shooting.

Police want to remind you that this investigation is still ongoing ""This investigation is not over.  Our officers are thoroughly processing the information gathered in these cases and will continue to search for the remaining persons involved in these shooting incidents," Police Chief Anthony Cobb released in a press release. "Our residents and visitors deserve closure and have a right to feel safe in their neighborhoods.  Hopefully, this spree has ended and more people will call police or Crime Stoppers with information," he added.
