City hopes to start road improvement projects

Champaign – The city of Champaign is asking for federal funds.

The city would like the funds to help improve roads. A 29-million dollar improvement project will renovate downtown corridors that connect the University of Illinois with Champaign and Urbana.

The Mass Transit District is leading the project. If approved the city says it will improve vehicle, bus, and bike lanes. The plan will also include enhanced bus stops and street lights.
