Champaign asks for money to improve roads

CHAMPAIGN - The city of Champaign is asking for federal funds to help improve roads.

The $29,000,000 project is designed to renovate downtown corridors that connect the University of Illinois with Champaign and Urbana.

The Mass Transit District is leading the project.

If approved, the city says it will improve vehicle, bus, and bike lanes.

It will also enhance bus stops and street lights.
