Oakland -- A woman from rural east-central Illinois has died after she was found in a swimming pool at her home.
The Champaign County coroner says 50-year-old Shirley A. Weaver of Oakland died early Thursday at a hospital in Urbana.
Coles County Sheriff's Office Detective John Clough says emergency workers were called to Weaver's home on Wednesday afternoon. He says it appears Weaver collapsed while cleaning the pool. She was found in the water and holding a cleaning tool. He says a friend was due to visit Wednesday afternoon and found Weaver in the pool.
An autopsy is planned. Oakland is about 40 miles south of Urbana.
