DANVILLE - Officials say a chemical leak that caused over 100 people to evacuate was under control by 3 p.m.
Around 11 a.m. Thursday morning, crews were called to the Chem-Cast plant on Lynch Rd. after a mixture of chemicals were leaking from a 300 gallon plastic tote.
For hours, officials say they were unable to close the leak because too much heat was being generated by the chemicals. No word on the specific chemicals, but Assistant Fire Chief Thomas Pruitt said it was a "mixture."
Chem-Cast president Jeff Craig says the chemical reaction dissipated without flames.
