Toddler killed in hit and run laid to rest

DECATUR -- The Decatur toddler killed in a hit and run crash last week was laid to rest Friday.

Friends and family packed Life Changer's Church in Decatur Friday afternoon to say good-bye to 19-month-old Zy'Onne Cooper.

Last Thursday the toddler was killed in front of his family's home after darting  from his mother  in the driveway.

Zyonne's grandmother, Shirley Powell, said the family is beginning to heal.

"Today is totally different from last week," Powell said. "I have so much peace and joy knowing that Zyonne is in heaven."

The toddler was carried to Graceland Cemetery in a horse-drawn carriage, and was buried  in the Garden of Angels.
