Shelbyville – The citizens of Shelby County have a chance to join the conversation about Shelbyville's Chautauqua.
A meeting is being held at the US Army Corps of Engineers Lake Shelbyville Visitors Center tonight from 7-8 p.m., to discuss the future of the historic building. The Shelbyville Chautauqua Auditorium was at risk of being demolished. However, the auditorium was saved from the wrecking ball after a series of successful fund raisers.
The community managed to raise more than 33-thousand dollars. It is estimated that structural repairs will cost at least 150-thousand. A full restoration will cost 1.7-million.
