Danville – Police are investigating after a man was hit and killed in Danville Monday.
Police say it happened at the corner of North and Gilbert Streets around 11:15 Monday morning. Officers found Scott Watson, 53, was lying on Gilbert Street, while the driver of the car was waiting nearby.
Champaign County Coroner says Watson was pronounced dead at Carle Hospital at 3:01 p.m. He died from his injuries he received when he was struck by the vehicle.
Public Safety Director, Larry Thomason says a 21 year old man was driving a pickup truck on Gilbert when Watson went into the road against the walk light and was struck.
Police are continuing to investigate. No tickets have been issued.
