CHARLESTON - A new study has named Charleston the third best Illinois city to raise a young family.
According to the NerdWallet report, Charleston ranks high in terms of quality of schools, and ranks low in terms of cost of living.
Those were among criteria analyzed in the report, along with city growth and prosperity.
Ranking first and second are Edwardsville and O'Fallon, respectively. Both are St. Louis suburbs while the remaining top ten are Chicago suburbs.
On Tuesday, Charleston Mayor Larry Rennels says he was pleasantly surprised and excited by the news. Rennels hopes the report will bring more employees to the city, and help recruit new businesses.
