Finishing Touches Being Put on Central Park

DECATUR-The pergolas have just been put in at Central Park and they're one of the last steps to be finished before the park is set to re-open.

They provide shade, and can be tilted to help create acoustics for the municipal band and other musical performances. If they're vertical they can be used to display art.

They replace the old bandstand that was knocked down this fall.

Since construction began, nearly everything in the park has been swapped out.. Except for the transfer house and the fountain

And on Friday the city will be getting a delivery of park benches and picnic tables that will be "transfer house red." It's likely you'll see them in the park over the next coming weeks.

Now it's just a matter of time before the grass is ready.

But at the very latest, the city says it will all be done before the Decatur celebration.
