Decatur Public Library continues to avoid budget cuts
Decatur – The Decatur Public Library board will meet Thursday to brainstorm ways to avoid budget cuts.
The city council approved a loan in June to help cover May and June operation costs. As a condition the library leaders must have a financial plan in place by September to stabilize the budget.
If the library has to make budget cuts this will be the second round of cuts in three years. It's become an issue of expenses exceeding revenue. Each month the library is losing in the neighborhood of $50,000.
