Sewer rates in Springfield to go up


Springfield – Sewer rates will rise by 5 percent starting today.


It is the first of 10 annual increases to help pay for improvements in the city. The city estimates the average customer will pay an extra 50 cents per month. At the end of the 10 year annual increase it will equal just under a $6.00 increase.


This is the first sewer rate hike in the city since 1996.
