Contracts for teachers could get final approval today

Danville – Negotiations over Danville teacher contracts could come to an end today.

A tentative agreement was approved last week. If the agreement gets the final approval the proposed three year contract will make the school day longer and give teachers and staff a salary increase.

This has been the school board and DEA's longest contract negotiation; negotiations went on for more than one year.

Members had been working under their old two-year contract.

The association represents about 600 teachers, teaching assistants, secretaries and learning resource clerks.
