Champaign – Counterfeit money continues to be a growing problem in Champaign-Urbana.
Police need your help to stop the recent increase in the number of smaller denominations being printed. This includes fives, tens, 20s, 50s and 100-dollars bills.
Police say they are being used to pay for goods and services, such as food and gas. Local businesses should be paying close attention to the bills they are presented by customers. Look for watermarks, security strips and the color shifting ink.
Anyone with information about the counterfeiting should call Crime Stoppers at 373-TIPS.
