County fairs prevent swine flu with sanitation measures

TAYLORVILLE -- The CDC is warning fair-goers to watch out for swine flu.

This comes after an outbreak of the virus at a county fair in Indiana.

Cows and pigs will soon be packing Christian County fairground's barns before this week.

Hand washing and sanitizing stations will be located throughout the fair, both inside and outside the livestock barns.

Fair director, Alan Fulk, said it's a health department regulation.

"It's required by the department of health, especially if there's food on the grounds," said Fulk.

Although it's not a requirement for food vendors, many of them still offer hand sanitizers outside of their stands.
