Logan County families can soon find a new affordable place to call home.
Construction started today on Plowfield Square. Forty two units will be built, consisting of town homes and two-story apartment buildings. These homes will be meant for low-income families and people with disabilities.
The project is supported with federal tax credits, plus money from state and federal housing programs. It's expected to create 79 local jobs during the construction phase of the project.
To qualify for the affordable units, residents must earn at or below 60 percent of the area median income (AMI), or $32,280 for a two-person household in Logan County. Eleven of the units will be for households at or below 30 percent AMI, or $16,140 for a two-person household in Logan County.
Plowfield Square is expected to open in spring 2014. If you're interested in applying for one of the residences, call (217) 732-2399.
