Public input needed for Chautauqua future

SHELBYVILLE -- Public input is needed for the future of Shelbyville's historic Chautauqua building.

Ideas were getting tossed around at a community meeting at the Roxy Theater in Shelbyville Thursday afternoon.

Historical agencies gave presentations about possible ways to successfully revitalize the Chautauqua through other communities' examples of similar restoration projects.

Economic Development Council Coordinator, David Young, says city leaders want the public's help deciding new ways to use the building.

"No matter how silly you might think it sounds, maybe it's not. Maybe [your idea] is something that we haven't thought of yet. And there's a lot of things that we haven't thought of yet," Young said.
