GARRETT - Douglas County Emergency Management is currently preparing its most extensive emergency drill ever.
On July 27th starting around 9 a.m. officials will conduct a recovery drill following a hypothetical EF2 tornado.
Nearly 300 volunteers are taking part, including those with local fire departments, law enforcement agencies, the Red Cross and more.
For four hours, volunteers will clean up disaster aftermath ranging from trees to actual smashed vehicles. Costume make up will even be used to simulate wounds.
Some volunteers will actually portray actors, in order to evoke the emotion that can ensue after a disaster.
EMA is still accepting volunteers for those interested in the exercise, estimated to take about four hours. If interested, call the agency at 253-9538.
