Urbana- The weekend of July 6th, the Channing-Murray Foundation held a rummage sale in order to raise money for the Red Herring Restaurant in Urbana. However, all profits were short-lived, as more than $1,000 were stolen.
Urbana Police discovered the missing money Sunday morning from a cash box in a room that had been locked. It is suspected that someone with ties to the building stole the funds.
Saturday, July 13th, the foundation held another rummage sale, not only to make up for last weekend's losses, but to raise money to improve the restaurant. Some restaurant improvements that will be made if enough funds are raised are business hours extension and workshops to educate people about local foods, preparation and cooking.
