Woman sentenced to nine years after killing passenger
Springfield – A woman is sentenced to nine years in prison, after a crash killed a passenger in her car.
Amber Kline, 23, was driving under the influence of alcohol and lost control of her car. She was traveling west in the 5200 block of West Washington Street in Springfield, back in August of 2012.
Kline lost control and the car went of the road and flipped, killing Amanda Smith, 23. Cassandra Smith, 23, Kaitlyn Dodd, 19, and Kline were all taken to the hospital. Both Dodd and Cassandra Smith were later released after treatment. Kline lost an eye as a result of the crash.
Police say that Kline was driving over 60 mph when the car flipped, and her blood alcohol level was 0.19. She was also driving on a suspended license.
