Springfield – A scam is targeting homeowners in Sangamon County.
Sangamon County Recorder, Josh Langfelder, is warning county residents to be on the look out for an advertisement that claims to provide property owners with a copy of their deed. The advertisement also says it comes with a complete property profile for a fee of $89.00 dollars.
Langfelder says that all of this information can be found on your real estate tax bill, or at the county recorder's office. You can get non-certified copy of a deed from the recorder's office for $2.00 dollars a certified copy is $26.00 dollars.
