Be on the look out for Algal Blooms in lakes and ponds


The EPA has a warning out for Algal Blooms.


They want you to use precaution because Algal Blooms can be harmful.  Algal blooms are often blue or green in color. The algae can also produce toxins in lakes and ponds.


Officials say it grows well this time of year because of sunshine. Be on the look out for scum or foam near the surface. If you are exposed to the blooms it can cause rashes, asthma like symptoms as well as liver damage.
