Springfield – Hundreds of computers have gone missing from the state prison system.
An audit by the Illinois Auditor General found that 156 computers are unaccounted for from the Illinois Department of Corrections, 84 are missing from the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice.
These missing computers have some officials concerned over the potential risk to confidential information. Corrections and Juvenile Justice Officials are investigating these missing computers.
In June state auditors also found that there were more than 250 computers missing from Southern Illinois University. The estimated value of the missing equipment from both SIU and the prison system is around 639-thousand dollars.
