SPRINGFIELD -- State Treasurer Dan Rutherford will talk to State Fair-goers Friday morning about imitation unclaimed property websites.
Rutherford's state-run website (https://icash.illinois.gov/) allows residents to search a database to find property or cash they're owed.
Rutherford says he's received several reports of imitation websites asking for credit card information to obtain unclaimed property information. He doesn't want you to fall for those claims, as you can find that information for free on the treasurer's site.
Rutherford will talk with residents Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. in the State Treasurer's tent on the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield.
