The cost of going 70 miles per hour

Soon cars will be going faster on some Illinois roads, but it will come at a cost to tax-payers.

Governor Quinn signed the bill allowing 70 mile per hour speeds on rural interstates. The change is expected to cost the state $200,000.

Nearly three dozen states have raised their speed limits since federal limits ended in 1995. The new law takes effect in January.
