Homeless Couple Marries, Receives New House

URBANA - After living together for five years on the streets, a homeless couple married in Urbana Thursday.

Korey Johnson and Michelle Saathoff recited their vows at Crystal Lake Park, in a small ceremony arranged by the local non-profit C-U at Home.

But Executive Director Melany Jackson said the special day didn't stop there - after the ceremony, the two moved into a home donated by the organization.

Johnson told WAND he was "overjoyed" to marry a woman he loves "everything about." He says that living on the streets together made "their bond stronger."

The newlyweds will live in their new Champaign home for a minimum of 12 months. They also received donated wedding rings and flower arrangements.
