Springfield -- A Springfield man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for a man's New Year's Eve 2010 stabbing death.
27-year-old Justin M. Smith was sentenced Friday. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and concealing a homicide in the death of 48-year-old Joseph Phoenix. Police found Phoenix's body in a field on Jan. 3, 2010.
Smith will receive credit for about 2 1/2 years he's already served in the Sangamon County jail.
