Alleged police impersonators arrested

CHATHAM, ILL. -- Two Chatham men are in custody for a string of incidents where they allegedly impersonated police officers.

Sangamon County Sheriff's deputies arrested Thomas Orme and Christopher Morthland yesterday afternoon.

Orme and Morthland are accused of using a cellphone app that flashes red and blue lights with a siren to pose as a police vehicle and stop motorists.

They are both charged with impersonating a police officer, a class 4 felony.

They are being held in the Sangamon County jail on $25,000 bond.
